State Police seize 600 bags of heroin at traffic stop in Searsburg

SEARSBURG >> State Police seized 600 bags of heroin from a vehicle at a traffick stop Friday on Route 9.

According to Vermont State Trooper Lucas Hall, at 11:15 a.m. a vehicle bearing Thomas Cross, 40, of Bennington, was pulled over for speeding and an equipment violation. Police made observations that led them to believe there were drugs in the vehicle. Police were given consent to search the vehicle and found Cross to be in possession of 600 bags of heroin. Police said they believe Cross was transporting heroin from Holyoke, Mass. to Bennington. Cross was arrested and is at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland for lack of $150,000 bail. He is set to be arraigned in Vermont Superior Court Criminal Division Bennington Unit on Monday.
