Shaftsbury man accused of child sex assault
SHAFTSBURY-- State Police said they arrested a Shaftsbury man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl two years ago.
Cortland Wade-Bailey, 26, is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court on Tuesday to face four counts of aggravated sexual assault on a child, and one count of luring a child.
Police said the investigation began in the middle of June. A girl told police that in 2012, when she was 14, Wade-Bailey convinced her to come to his house by sending her messages over Facebook and through texts. There he assaulted her throughout the night and into the morning.
Wade-Bailey was arrested at his place of employment without incident on Monday. His home was searched and police confirmed details the girl had told them about the interior.
