Cambridge blanks Waterford

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. — The Cambridge Indians defeated the Waterford Fordians 2-0 in Wasaren League play on Thursday.

Daniel Medina scored both goals for Cambridge

In the first half, the two sides played relatively even soccer until midway through, when senior Patrick Robertson sent a ball over the top of the Fordian defense to a sprinting Medina, who placed the ball past the Waterford keeper.

Cambridge kept up the pressure for the rest of the half, but the Fordian defense held strong, and keeper Mike Thomas made some courageous saves on closely contested balls in the box. The Indians came out a little flat in the second half, and Fordians' Hunter Guertin and Jared Powell put some hard shots toward the Cambridge goal that went just wide. Cambridge doubled the lead when senior Emerson Lopez put a perfectly placed ball to Medina's head in the 58th minute.
