Rowland, Holcomb named Class D MVPs
Rowland and Holcomb have led the Indians to a 9-1 record and another state tournament appearance.
Rowland has completed 59-of-89 (66.3 percent) for 1,264 yards and 11 touchdowns against three interceptions.
Defensively, Holcomb is second on the team with 78 tackles, including three for loss.
Greenwich senior quarterback Cole Burgess was named as the player of the year, racking up 1,221 rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns for the 9-1 Witches.
Cambridge's Doug Luke, whose Indians topped Greenwich in the Section II finals, was named Class D Coach of the Year, winning his 200th career game in the sectional final.
Named to the first-team offense were Warrensburg's Cole Lanfear and Trevor Prosser at running back, and Hunter Mosher and Brandon Turner on the line, and Cambridge's Max Hoffer and Nathan Genevick up front and Jonas Butz as the all-purpose player. Greenwich kicker Chris Albrecht was also selected.
Chosen for the first-team defense were Cambridge lineman Colton Dean and defensive back Tommy English, Whitehall lineman Andrew Genier and punter Nick Kennedy, Fort Edward lineman Anthony Miller, and Greenwich lineman Joe Smith, defensive back Josh James, and linebackers Reese Cristaldi and Carson Mosher.
BENNINGTON — The Southern Vermont Storm will have a introduction meeting for players on November 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Vermont Vets Home at 325 North Street.
The meeting will be held in the Crispe Room and will be a 2017 review and a 2018 preview for the Class A Maritime Division champions.
Current and potential new players are encouraged to attend.
