Roundup: MVL names all-stars in tennis



BENNINGTON -- The Marble Valley League released its tennis all-stars for both the boys and girls teams, and a handful of local players dot the lists.

On the girls side, Maddy Pagnucco, Gabby Vella and Eliza Breed represent Division II champ and undefeated Burr and Burton Academy on the all-league list, while Irene Matas was named as an honorable mention.

For Mount Anthony, Jessie Kuzmicki and Margaret Curtin -- the No. 1 and No. 4 singles for coaches Steve Coggeshall and Tanya Case -- earned all-league nods. Grace Page, in her first year on the court for the Patriots, was an honorable mention.

On the boys side, BBA’s Peter Oh, Sam Cochrane and Noah Wetherald earned all-league honors after an undefeated regular season for the Bulldogs. Coach Pete McNealus was named as the coach of the year.

Mount Anthony’s Blake Greenawalt and Flavio Iudica were chosen to represent the Patriots.

BBA’s doubles players Conor Harrington and Nick Fayette, along with Mount Anthony’s Hao Guo were honorable mentions.

Lady Patriots basketball

BENNINGTON -- The Lady Patriot Basketball School will run the week of July 14 at Mount Anthony Union High School for players between the ages of 7 and 14. For more information, contact MAU coach Brian Harrington at 442-9834.

SVC basketball camp

BENNINGTON -- Registration is open for the Southern Vermont College basketball camp. Interested boys and girls entering grades 3 to 11 can sign up by going to the SVC website and downloading a camp brochure.

The camp will run four separate weeks: June 30 to July 2, July 14 to 18, July 21 to 25 and August 4 to 8. Each day’s session goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Friday from the last three weeks ending at noon.
