Roundup: Mount Anthony lacrosse unveils awards

BENNINGTON -- After an 8-10 season, Mount Anthony Union High School’s Avery Peck and Nick Altland were chosen as first team Marble Valley League selections in boys lacrosse.
Peck and fellow senior Luke Keenan will also represent MAU at the senior showcase, while Peck, a second-team All-State selection, is the lone representative for the Twin State game on Saturday.
Six other MAU players were chosen for the second team MVL, including Otis Selib, Layne Trafton, Jackson Thibodeau, Damon Young, Ben Prandini and Keenan.
Coach Paul Reif was also named as the Vermont coach of the year by US Lacrosse.

Post 13 falls
HARTFORD -- Bennington Post 13 was held to four hits on Thursday night as they lost 2-0 to Hartford.
Ellis Baker led the way with two hits, while Austin Metcalfe and Weston Lozier had base hits, but Post 13 stranded 12 runners in seven innings.
The Post 13 defense was on point as well, turning three double plays. Post 13 is 1-1 and faces Bellows Falls for a doubleheader on Saturday and a nine-inning game on Sunday at South Royalton. All games start at noon.
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Horseshoe Club will host a tournament to honor long-time player Leon O’Dell and his 50 years of play at the club.

Lax camp registration
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Youth Lacrosse Camp for boys will be held from July 14 to July 17 at Willow Park in Bennington.
Boys from kindergarten through second grade will go from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. with a registration fee of $75, while grade three through 10 will go from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a registration fee of $150.

Lady Patriots basketball camp July 14-18
BENNINGTON -- The Lady Patriot Basketball School will run the week of July 14 through the 18th at Mount Anthony Union High School for players between the ages of 7 and 14.

Bennington Basketball School looking for campers
BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School boys basketball coach Dan Sleeman is still accepting basketball players for his Bennington Basketball School for Boys camp. The program will run from July 7 through July 11. Age group 12-15 will practice from 8 a.m. to noon, while the 7-11 age group will run from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
This is the 43rd year of the Bennington Basketball School.

SVC basketball camp
BENNINGTON -- Registration is open for the Southern Vermont College basketball camp. Interested boys and girls entering grades 3 to 11 can sign up by going to the SVC website and downloading a camp brochure.
The camp will run four separate weeks: June 30 to July 2, July 14 to 18, July 21 to 25 and August 4 to 8. Each day’s session goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Friday from the last three weeks ending at noon.

BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm will host a volleyball tournament in honor of Jesse Roy on June 28 at JC’s Tavern in Bennington.
The tournament will be double elemination, and will feature teams of four. The games will be rally scoring to 25.

SHAFTSBURY -- On Sunday, June 22, the Catamount Bow Hunters will be hosting a Tri-State 3D Competition.
Registration on Sunday is from 7 a.m. to noon and is $12 for adults and $5 for youth. Cubs are free with a paid adult.
Member and non-members are each welcome and there will be food and beverages available.
