Roundup: Eagles blast Black River

LUDLOW -- Three Arlington Memorial High School boys basketball players reached double figures as the Eagles pasted Black River, 77-27, on Thursday night.
Arlington outscored Black River 42-5 in the second half.
Olden Dwyer led all scorers with 15, while DJ Jennings added 14. Alex Trayah chipped in 10 for Arlington, who improves to 10-6 after their third straight win.
BBA tops Minutemen
MANCHESTER -- The Burr and Burton Academy boys basketball team improved to 16-2 and won their eighth in a row with a 54-39 victory over Mill River on Thursday night.
Jake Stalcup led a balanced attack for the Bulldogs with 13 points, while Dave Shehadi, Taylor Fuller and Weston Muench all chipped in with eight.
For Mill River, Mark Guyette led with 11 and Jay Carleton added 10.
With the win, BBA remains firmly in the No. 3 spot in the Division II standings.
Bennington Little League registration
BENNINGTON -- Registration for the 2013 season will begin on Feb. 20 and 21 at the Firehouse on River Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration concludes on Feb. 27 and 28 again at the same time and place.
All players ages 5-12in the Bennington area, including former Norshaft registrants, looking to play baseball this year need to register on one of these four dates. For all registrants a photocopy of the birth certificate is required.

Mack Attack registration

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Young Women’s Softball League is hosting their annual sign-ups. All girls ages 7-12 as of January 1 are encouraged to sign up.

Lax officials training
BENNINGTON -- The Vermont Lacrosse Officials Association will be offering training clinics throughout the state for individuals interested in officiating boys lacrosse.
The clinics will include 2 man mechanics, technical and personal fouls, field mechanics, proper signaling, verbal and visual communication, penalty enforcement and pre and post game preparation. The clinics are free and pre-registration is required.
The Southern Vermont clinic will be held on March 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington.

Zemianek road race returns May 5
BENNINGTON -- The 35th annual Steve Zemianek Road Race will take place on May 5 at the Park-McCullough House in North Bennington.
There are three different runs, a 3.8-mile course, a 10K course and a half-mile fun run for children.
The entry fee is $15 to pre-register and $3 for the fun run. A family of four can register at a reduced rate of $40.
Awards will be given to the top male and female runner and the top three in each age group.
