Roundup: Bulldogs roll over Wasps

MANCHESTER -- The Burr and Burton Academy girls hockey team routed Woodstock 7-0 on Wednesday at Riley Rink in Manchester.
Six different Bulldogs scored in the win, with Molly Dingley netting twice while Megan Grabher, Kristi Lewicki, Aggie Bisselle, Natalia Sowulewska and Audriauna Bryant each added one.
Morgan Bazyk had two assists in the win.
Woodstock’s Stephany Hendrick had 15 saves in the loss, while Emma Weinstein stopped 10 shots as she got the start over Kaylie Benson for the game.
BBA moves to 13-2-2, and returns to action on Saturday at Hartford in a 7 p.m. contest.
Eagles fall on road
POULTNEY -- The Arlington Memorial High School boys basketball team kept it close against Poultney in the first quarter, but a 20-8 second in favor of Poultney allowed the home team to race out to a 64-39 win.
DJ Jennings had 12 for Arlington in the loss, while Nathan Madison added 10.
Poultney was led by Sam White with 16 points and Sean Shepardson with 14 points.
Arlington falls to 1-14 and returns to action on Wednesday, at home against Green Mountain.
Youth nights at MAU
BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School is once again sponsoring a pair of Youth Basketball Nights for girls youth basketball players in the area.
Girls youth night will be Tuesday when MAU girls basketball plays host to Rutland. JV action starts at 5:30, followed by the varsity at 7.
All girls playing in the MAYAA Basketball League will be admitted free of charge by wearing their game jerseys.
At the halftime of each JV game there will be a 10-minute exhibition game featuring two MAYAA teams.
A drawing for a basketball signed by the varsity team will be held after the exhibition game for the MAYAA participants in attendance.
Pownal youth baseball
POWNAL -- The Pownal Cal Ripken Baseball is looking for players for the upcoming season. The team is open to all Pownal and surrounding area children ages 4-12. Children ages 9-12 can play in Cal Ripken sanctioned tournaments.
There is no registration fee for any child. Sign-ups will be Feb. 2, 24 and 16 from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pownal Elementary School gym.

BENNINGTON -- Mt. Anthony Lacrosse Association will hold 2014 spring registration on February 25 and 26 at the Bennington Rec Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for boys and girls grades K thru 8.

Benn LL sign-ups
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Little League is opening registration for the 2014 season. Registration for the season will begin on Feb. 12 and 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 19 and 20 at the Fire House on River Street.
All players 5-12 in the Bennington school district looking to play baseball this year need to register on one of these four dates.

Mack Attack sign-ups
ARLINGTON -- The Mack Attack AAU girls’ basketball season will begin practicing on March 9, and sign-ups are ongoing.
