Roundup: Bulldogs come up short

WESTMINSTER -- The Burr and Burton Academy team coughed up a four-run lead on Saturday to fall to Bellows Falls 5-4 on the road.
In the bottom of the seventh, Bellows Falls’ Ethan Illingworth hit a single up the middle that bounced off the leg of losing pitcher Noah Rizio and into the outfield to allow the final run across.
BBA had multi-hit days from Rizio, Colin McLeish and Cody Roberts. Roberts hit a two-RBI double in the fourth inning and also had a triple. Seth Wilkinson had a sac fly for BBA.
All five Bellows Falls run were unearned. Brady Illingworth picked up the win in relief.
BBA falls to 2-1 and return to action on Tuesday against Hartford.
Benn Road Race May 4
BENNINGTON -- The 26th annual Steve Zemianek Bennington Road Race will be held on Sunday, May 4 beginning at the Park McCullough house in North Bennington.
This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of local educator and marathon runner Gail Harwood. The race is produced and directed by the Batten Kill Valley Runners.
All net proceeds will be donated to the Mount Anthony Union High School Zemianek scholarship fund.
The kids race will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the 3.8K and 10K races will start at 10 a.m.
Registration is $15 in advance and $20 after May 1.
Runners can register online at runreg.com. Paper registration is available at Wills Insurance, Bennington Recreation Center, Off the Wall, Anytime Fitness, Bennington Sports Center and all schools in Bennington and North Bennington.
Masters swim meet
BENNINGTON -- The 3rd annual Monumental Masters Mini Meet will be held on Saturday, April 26 at the Bennington Recreation Center on Gage Street.
Adults over the age of 18 are encouraged to swim, no prior competition is required. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bennington Marauders swim team.
Warm-ups start at 9 a.m., with the first event beginning at 10 a.m.
Pre-registration is $15 per swimmer by April 22, or $20 the day of the event. Forms are available at the Rec Center, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
Benn. Basketball School
BENNINGTON -- Applications are now being accepted for the Bennington Basketball School for Boys. The camp runs from July 7 to July 11. Players aged 12-15 will practice from 8 a.m. to noon, and 7-11 will practice from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
