Roundup: Board members needed for Babe Ruth

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington County Babe Ruth league is looking for members to serve on the Board of Directors for the upcoming season.
The league is the only baseball program in the area for baseball players ages 13-15, but without a full board the league would have to fold next season.
The league will be hosting a meeting at the Bennington Free Library on Sept. 8 to discuss the league, including information on league structure, financial stability and dues.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m.
Hoosick Falls football tickets
HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Tickets are on sale for the Hoosick Falls football team’s opening week game at the Kickoff Classic in Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Tickets are $7 and are available at the high school office.
The Panthers will face Owego Free Academy in an intrasectional battle to begin the season. For more information, call athletic director Tom Husser at 518-686-7321.
Sub-varsity officials needed for MAU games
BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School athletic director Tim Brown is looking to expand the officiating pool for high school and middle school sub-varsity games this fall. Games generally start at 4 or 4:30 p.m.

MAU season passes
BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School will be offering season passes to home night games for the 2014-15 school year.
A complete fall/winter season pass for all home football, boys and girls soccer, wrestling and boys and girls basketball games will be $60 for adults and $30 for students/senior citizens for a 66 percent savings.
Bat Brat tryouts
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Bat Brats will be hosting a tryout for their U16 team on August 23 from noon to 2 p.m.
The new team would be added to the growing program for the summer of 2015. To be eligible, players must be 16 or under on January 1.

MANCHESTER -- The 2014 Southern Vermont Sprint Triathlon will be held on August 24 starting at 8 a.m. The SVST begins at Hunter Park (Riley Rink) with an 8-mile bike ride to Emerald Lake, a quarter-mile swim (out and back, close to the island), another 8-mile bike back to Hunter Park and a 3.4-mile run that finishes through the path from the Rec Park to Hunter Park.
To encourage more people to experience a triathlon, SVST is offering a 20 percent discount to students and teachers (please contact Hunter Park 802-362-0150 or email@example.com to verify eligibility for the discount).
The proceeds from the event go to support Hunter Park to develop as a more diverse facility that will offer more to the community both in terms of healthy, fun activities and as a draw for people to make Manchester and the area a travel destination.

SVC baseball camps
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont College baseball team announced it will be holding two fall baseball camps.
The first camp, on Oct. 12, will be for Little League-aged children, while the team will host a fall exposure camp on Oct. 19.
Both camps will be at Bill Epstein Field on the campus of SVC.
The Little League Clinic is for children ages 8-13, and will run from 9 to 11 a.m. The camp will include instruction from head coach Dave Gage, along with current SVC players. The cost of the camp will be $10, and the camp will focus on all aspects of the game.
The exposure camp is for ballplayers that are either a junior or senior in high school. Junior college players are also invited to attend the camp. Campers will have the opportunity to learn from Coach Gage, as well as other college coaches from the area. The cost of the camp will be $75, or $100 for a player that both pitches and plays a position.
Bat Brat golf scramble
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Bat Brats will be hosting their second annual 4-person golf scramble at the Mount Anthony Country Club on Oct. 12.
The scramble will be a shotgun start, beginning at 1 p.m.
The entry fee is $80 per person, which will include 18 holes of golf with a cart and food.
