Roadwork this week

The Bennington Town Office will be closed Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Please have a safe and happy Labor Day.

- Division Street remains closed to through traffic all week. Local traffic will be accommodated. Water, sewer and highway crews continue preparation work for paving. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please find alternate route.

- Imperial Avenue remains closed between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to through traffic. Local traffic will be accommodated. Highway and sewer crews continue working on Imperial Avenue rebuilding manholes and storm drains in preparation for paving this summer. Please find alternate route. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please use caution.

- Jefferson Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday will be closed between Weeks Street and Elm Street for road repair due to a waterline dig. Local traffic will be accommodated. - Maple Street on Tuesday will be closed between Spring Street and Gage Street for a waterline repair. Local traffic will be accommodated. Please find alternate route. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please use caution.

- North Branch Street on Thursday will be closed between Brooklyn Bridge and Bell Street from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a water line repair. Local traffic will be accommodated. Please expect delays. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please use caution.

- Park Street will remain closed to through traffic between Gage Street and Scott Street as highway and sewer crews continue storm drain and manhole rehabilitation. Local traffic will be accommodated. Please find an alternate route.

- Union Street on Wednesday will be reduced to one-lane traffic between Silver Street and Short Street for a water hydrant repair. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please use caution.

- Valentine Street on Wednesday will be closed between Union Street and Main Street for a water hydrant repair. Local traffic will be accommodated. Please find alternate route. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please use caution.

- Townwide work: Roadside mowing, tree trimming and weeding also will continue in numerous areas in Bennington. Please use caution when approaching these areas and leave plenty of room for the tractor and men or equipment on side of the road. Also, please do not rake or blow grass and/or leaves into town streets or highways as these clogs storm drains and creates flooding and driving hazards for the entire community. Residents and contractors, please make sure all loads are covered when taking leaves and or brush to the transfer station.
