Republican Milne launches campaign website
BARRE (AP) - Republican Scott Milne has run a relatively quiet campaign for governor of Vermont so far, but there are signs it's coming to life.
Milne has selected the Aldrich Public Library in Barre as the site of his 11:15 a.m. campaign kickoff Wednesday, with a hamburger lunch to follow at the Barre Elks Club. He's also got a website up now, at milneforvermont.org.
Milne, who lives in Woodstock and operates a travel business, made his campaign official a month ago but he still has little money - about $20,000 as of last week.
He faces Emily Peyton and Steve Berry in a Republican primary, the winner of which will face the winner of the Democratic primary between incumbent Gov. Peter Shumlin and a little-known challenger, H. Brooke Paige, of Washington.
