Ramunto's set to bring brick-oven pizza to North Adams next month
NORTH ADAMS, MASS. — In a city with plenty of pizza, a new Main Street restaurant is looking to stand apart by offering brick-oven pizza.
Ramunto's Pizza and Pub was approved unanimously by the city's Planning Board on Monday. It is expected to open at the corner of Main and Holden streets next month.
"The model caters to sports enthusiasts, families and professionals seeking a take-out or destination-style atmosphere," wrote franchise owner Kenneth Buchanan in his permit application.
The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week and offer take-out or dine-in eating of the "highest quality New York-style pizza, calzones, hand-cut fries, burgers and garlic knots," Buchanan wrote.
Representatives said after the meeting that the restaurant is expected to open in early November.
With plans for 20 draft beer lines, Ramunto's has also applied for a liquor license. The application is expected to be heard by the license commission later this month.
Ramunto's currently has locations in Bennington, Brattleboro and Williston in Vermont and in Keene, N.H., according to its website. It also sells pizza inside three Jiffy Mart convenient stores in Vermont and New Hampshire.
The 67 Main St. location has been home to numerous restaurants in recent years, including TaBella's and Mediterra.
The board also unanimously approved Kenneth and Kristi L. Cooper for a photography and digital arts studio at 33 Main St., a visible storefront at the corner of Main and Marshall streets.
"We're looking to open up a photography studio and retail space," said owner Kristi Cooper. "We also do digital arts."
