Rail System celebrates 50th anniversary with free rides
NORTH BENNINGTON -- The Vermont Rail System is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Saturday with two free round-trip train rides from North Bennington to Manchester.
Trains will leave North Bennington station at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the trip is expected to take about an hour and a half. Additionally, the North Bennington Village Board of Trustees will open the Train Station to the public from 9 a.m. until the departure of the second train.
"This year, Vermont Rail System celebrates a half century of continuous, family-owned and operated freight and passenger services," said VRS in a statement, "We are commemorating this milestone with a series of special train excursions throughout Vermont. Join us on a free trip from North Bennington to Manchester as we thank you, the customers, community leaders, and friends who have supported us for the past 50 years."
