Pownal man accused of sexual abuse


POWNAL &mdashT; A local man is being held at $10,000 bail after being accused of sexually abusing a child over a period of years.

Frank Burdick, 36, of Pownal, is being charged with the repeated aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to Vermont State Police.

Police said the girl, now 16, said she had been sexually assaulted on a repeat basis from the age of 10 through the age of 14.

Based on information learned from the victim, police attempted to locate Burdick in Pownal and arrested him Monday. Burdick is being held at $10,000 bail at the Marble Valley Correctional Center in Rutland.

The charge of aggravated repeated sexual assault on a child holds a 25-year minimum sentence and a maximum of life in prison.

Burdick is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court on Tuesday to be arraigned.
