Police seek man on assault charge
An arrest warrant has been issued for Alfred "Fred" Craven, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers were called to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington on Sept. 4 after a man walked into the emergency department with extensive facial injuries, according to a release from State Police Detective Sgt. James Wright, of the Shaftsbury barracks.
Craven assaulted the 53-year-old man with a two-by-four while at a Searsburg residence, police said. The man, who police did not identify, sustained a skull fracture, broken jaw and multiple facial fractures.
Craven, who police said fled the scene to avoid troopers, faces felony assault charges.
