SCHODACK, N.Y. -- A 33-year-old businesswoman found dead in her home Sunday morning is considered the victim of a homicide, and state police have taken her estranged boyfriend into custody after a manhunt.

Nikki Hart, the broker-owner of East Greenbush-based Hart Real Estate, was found shortly after 4:35 a.m. in her home at 20 Bri Lan Ave. off Columbia Turnpike by police responding to a report of a knife assault. She was suffering from stab wounds, and was immediately transported to Albany Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The day before Hart had been in a domestic dispute with Jason Guynup, 29, who lives at the same address. Guynup and Hart have a one-year-old daughter, Addison Joan Guynup.

In an early morning manhunt involving various agencies, the car belonging to Guynup was found crashed into a tree. Guynup was soon found walking along Route 9J and apprehended around 6:40 a.m.

State police were assisted by police from East Greenbush, North Greenbush, the city of Rensselaer and the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department. The county district attorney's office also assisted.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
