Police: Over 1,000 pounds of copper stolen from building
BENNINGTON -- Bennington Police are investigated the reported theft of over 1,000 pounds of copper tubing from the basement of the former Mount Anthony Middle School.
According to Bennington Police Lt. Lloyd Dean the theft was reported on Tuesday but the following day it was discovered more copper had been taken after the first report made by the building’s caretaker. Dean said entry was made through a door on the Pleasant Street side of the building. It is not known how many people were involved in the theft or how it was accomplished. Anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in that area on either night is asked to contact Bennington Police at 802-442-1030.
