Single-vehicle crash

POWNAL -- At about midnight on Sunday, Feb. 9, state police responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 7 in Pownal. Police determined that the vehicle, operated by Amber Kelson, 32, of Pownal, veered of the road for no obvious reason and struck a guardrail. Officers at the scene suspected that Kelson was under the influence of a substance other than alcohol. A Drug Recognition Expert screened Kelson, and also suspecting that she had been driving under the influence of drugs. Police collected a blood sample from Kelson, and further action in the case is pending the results of that blood test. Pownal rescue and Pownal Fire Department responded to and aided with the crash. Kelson reported only minor injuries and declined further treatment.

Trespassing complaint

POWNAL - At approximately 9:42 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, state police were dispatched to 1018 Route 7, in Pownal, for a trespassing complaint. After performing an investigation at the scene, police determined that the accused, Domenic M. Thane, 22, of Pownal, had violated his conditions of released set by the court and was driving with a criminally suspended license. Thane was arrested and processed for said offenses, and was held on $1,500 bail at the Mable Valley Regional Correctional Facility in Rutland. He appeared in Bennington District Court on Feb. 12 to answer to the charges. Thane was among those listed as being arrested during Operation Strike Two last September.
