Car-bicycle crash, with injuries
SHAFTSBURY -- On Aug. 2 at 2:10 p.m., state police were dispatched to a car vs. bicycle crash at the intersection of Route 7A and Hidden Valley Road in Shaftsbury. According to the police report, Vivian Lacy, 87, of Arlington was traveling north on Route 7A when she made an unexpected right turn onto Hidden Valley Road, turning in front of a bicyclist, Timothy Norman, 55, of Acton, Mass. Lacy told police she was not aware the bicyclist was there. Norman was unable to avoid colliding with Lacy’s vehicle as it turned, and collided with the right fender of the vehicle. He was wearing a helmet at the time, but was thrown off of the bicycle and complained to police of a possible neck injury. He was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center by Arlington Rescue. Police report that Lacy was visibly shaken by the incident, but was not injured.
