BURLINGTON, VT. >> Police say a man was charged with heroin trafficking after authorities found about $11,000 worth of the drug in his Vermont home.

La-Shon McGee was arrested Monday night after police executed a search warrant at his Burlington home. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Vermont Superior Court and was released on conditions.

Authorities say a search of the 42-year-old Burlington man's home found more than 500 bags of heroin. Police say McGhee had been under investigation for two months.

McGhee has previously been convicted of charges in New York and Vermont that include criminal sale of a controlled substance and simple assault. He is facing up to 30 years in prison if he's convicted of heroin trafficking.
