Police: Arrest made at Shaftsbury drinking party

Tuesday May 28, 2013

SHAFTSBURY-- An underage drinking party Saturday on Route 7A resulted in two arrests, according to police.

Police said the call from a concerned parent came in at about 10:30 p.m. When authorities arrived at the house, they observed party attendees between the ages of 16 and 20. One of them, Christopher Loomis, 20, of Bennington, had consumed so much that police said it appeared he was having a medical emergency. While they were checking on him, Loomis awoke and allegedly assaulted Sgt. Jesse Robson, causing minor injuries. Loomis also received minor injuries while resisting arrest.

Police identified Willow Bucchieri, 17, as the party’s host while her mother was out of town. Bucchieri was charged with enabling the consumption of alcohol by minors.

Loomis was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and consumption of alcohol and was transported to Marble Valley Correctional Facility.

Four additional minors at the scene received diversion paperwork for alcohol violations.

The Bennington County Sheriff’s department and Bennington Police provided assistance at the scene.
