Police arrest 27 in Vermont city drug sweep
RUTLAND (AP) -- Vermont police say 27 people have been arrested in a drug sweep in the city of Rutland.
Police say the arrests that took place on Monday and Tuesday were the result of long term, sustained efforts by law enforcement to reduce the flow of dangerous drugs into Vermont.
The people arrested ranged in age from 18 to 54. Most charges involved the sale of heroin or cocaine.
All are due to be arraigned in court.
More arrests are expected.
Police say law enforcement at every level in the state will continue to target individuals trafficking, selling and distributing dangerous drugs in Vermont.
