Patriots improve to 10-0 on the season
MAU beats MSJ at tennis
RUTLAND >> The perfect season continues for the Mount Anthony girls tennis team, which improved to 10-0 on the season, with their shutout win over MSJ on Monday afternoon.
No. 1 singles player Margaret Curtin got the day rolling for MAU with a win in straight sets of 6-0, 6-2.
No. 2 singles player Grace Page shutout her opponent in straight sets in her match win for MAU.
No. 3 singles player Anna Salem won her match with straight sets wins of 6-1, 6-4 for the Patriots.
Both No. 4 singles player Ally Whit and No. 5 singles player Phebe Hall had 10-0 victories in their matches.
On the doubles side, MAU's No. 1 doubles pair of Thea Pappas and Brooke Young shutout their opponents in straight sets for the win.
The Patriots No. 2 doubles pair of Kaitlin Banks and Trinity Galipeau won their match by forfeit.
MAU will go for 11-0 today when they travel to face Springfield at 4:30 p.m.
Hoosick Falls trumps Cambridge
HOOSICK, N.Y. >> In their regular season finale against Wasaren League rival Cambridge, the Hoosick Falls baseball team got their bats ready for postseason play with a dominating 17-2 win over the Indians.
Seniors Wyatt Whit had three hits on the day with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Panthers.
Fellow senior Noah Conety also scored three runs, while knocking in two runs on two hits in the win for Hoosick Falls.
With the win, Hoosick Falls ends the season at 10-7 and 8-6 in league play.
The Panthers will travel to play Granville in the first round of the Section II, Class B tournament on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Panthers end season on winning note
HOOSICK, N.Y. >> The Hoosick Falls softball team finished off the season with a 6-1 win over Wasaren League rival Cambridge.
Senior Erika Quackenbush had two hits and an RBI at the plate and struck out five in her complete game performance on the mound to help the Panthers get the victory.
Fellow senior Alyssa Ellis had two RBIs in the win for Hoosick Falls.
Cambridge falls to Greenwich
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. >> The Cambridge boys lacrosse team was not match for Greenwich, losing 13-5 to their Wasaren League rival.
Max Ratelle scored a team-high three goals in the win for Cambridge.
Zack Rowland had a goal scored, while Max Hoffer had a team-high two assists in the Indians loss.
With the loss, Cambridge drops to 11-5 on the season.
