Patriots fall to CVU in quarters

HINESBURG >> The Mount Anthony Union High School ran into the same CVU juggernaut that everyone has for the past four seasons, falling in the Division I quarterfinals, 67-36.

Sadie Otley led the Redhawks with 23 points, while Laurel Jaunich added 16 for CVU, who won its 93rd consecutive game.

CVU got out of the gate quickly, leading 21-7 at the end of the first and 39-21 at the half.

They kept up the pressure throughout, and coach Brian Harrington subbed in his seniors in the final minutes.

Mount Anthony was led by Brianna Legacy's 12 points and Kathryn Frasier's nine.

MAU finishes the year at 11-11.

Third quarter dooms Eagles in quarterfinal loss

PROCTOR >> The third quarter doomed the No. 11 Arlington girls basketball team in its Division IV quarterfinal loss, 61-30, to No. 3 Proctor on Friday night.

Down 13-8 in the first and 32-20 at the half, Arlington looked to be in a battle with the Phantoms after two big defeats during the regular season. But the third quarter was the killer, as the Eagles only scored five points and trailed 50-25. With subs on both sides, Proctor got to its final margin.

The Eagles finish the season at 8-14.
