HOOSICK, N.Y. >> On Monday, the New York state Section II playoff seedings for both baseball and softball were announced, with both the Hoosick Falls baseball team and the Cambridge softball team earning spots in their respective play off brackets.

The Panthers were given the fifth seed in the Section II, Class B tournament, after finishing the season 10-7 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

Hoosick Falls is led by very senior laid-in group that begins with Wyatt Whitman and Noah Conety.

The two seniors have been nice one-two punch at the top of the Panthers starting pitching rotation all season long, while also both being huge bats in the middle of the Hoosick Falls lineup as well.

Other key players for the Panthers are second baseman Riley Bacon and shortstop Alex Mendes.

The two make up a nice middle infield duo for Hoosick Falls and a good one-two punch at the top of the team's lineup too.

Junior Ryan Sanders has been solid behind the plate for the Panthers all season, while senior Connor McCart has been a nice addition in the outfield this year for the team.

Hoosick Falls will matchup against No. 4 seed Granville in the first round of the tournament.

The Panthers dropped both games against the Wasaren League rival in the regular season.

"We figured we be placed in the spot we were given and that Granville would be a likely opponent for us in the first round," said Hoosick Falls coach Mike Lilac. "To go far we know were going to have continue to get good pitching and hit well with runners in scoring position. Hopefully third time is the charm against Granville and will see where we go from there."

Hoosick Falls will travel to play Granville in their first roundup matchup on Thursday at 4 p.m.

For softball, Cambridge was able to grab the sixth seed in the Section II, Class C tournament with a solid 9-5 record in the regular season.

The Indians are led by their ace Miranda Seacord and an offense that can score in bunches

Cambridge will host No. 9 seed Saratoga Catholic in the first round of the tournament on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
