Panthers fall to Mekeel at home

HOOSICK, N.Y. — Logan Thayne had 10 points to lead the Hoosick Falls girls basketball team, but Mekeel Christian Academy scored a 46-30 win on Monday night at Hoosick Falls Central School.

Eliza Whitman added seven points for Hoosick, who falls to 1-2 on the season. Mekeel Christian was led by Rebekkah Dean's 20 points.

Hoosick's next game is December 6 when they host Cambridge at 7:30 p.m.

Main honored as NECC rookie of the week

BENNINGTON — After three consecutive double-double performances, Southern Vermont College women's basketball forward Maddy Main was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week.

The junior averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds per game during the week ending on November 26. The Bennington native was also strong on the defensive end with 2.3 steals per game as well.

On the season, she is averaging 17.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg and 2.2 spg, which are all good for team-bests.

Main was honored by the NECC earlier in the semester for cross country as she was named Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week once in the fall.

SVC is back in action on Tuesday at home when they take on New England College at 6 p.m.
