One hurt in Route 9 collision

Monday July 8, 2013

BENNINGTON -- Saturday afternoon, Bennington Rural Fire Department and Bennington Police responded to an automobile accident at the intersection of Vermont Route 9 and Gypsy Lane in Bennington.

Donald Violet of Bennington was traveling west on a motorcycle on Route 9. behind another vehicle traveling the same direction. The vehicle in front of Violet made a right hand turn onto Gypsy Lane as another vehicle, operated by Seattle, Wash., resident, Susan Bort, was turning left onto Route 9.

Bort did not see Violet approaching from behind the other vehicle, and thus pulled out in front of Violet, causing the accident. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and had to be towed from the scene. Bort was not injured. Violet, although not thrown from the motorcycle upon impact, was promptly transported to SVMC with possible upper body injuries.
