Saturday December 1, 2012

BENNINGTON -- On Sunday, Dec. 2, Oldcastle Theatre will be hosting their first Annual Holiday Bed and Breakfast Tour. The tour will be from 1 - 4 p.m.; the bed and breakfasts on the tour will include Alexandra Inn, Arlington Inn, Eddington House, Four Chimneys, South Shire Inn, and West Mountain Inn. Guests will be able to tour each inn, guided by Oldcastle volunteers and Inn staff. Visitors can download the map to the tour online at www.oldcastletheatre.org, or pick up copies at the theatre on 331 Main Street in downtown Bennington.

The Arlington Inn, located at 3904 VT Route 7A in Arlington, Vermont, is a Vermont village estate built in 1847, and was the private home of Martin Chester Deming. With an adjacent tavern and restaurant, the Inn is on the National Historic Register and encompasses four acres.

Known for its menu and on-site Bistro, the Alexandra Inn Bed & Breakfast is located at 916 Orchard Road in Bennington on 7A. It was built in 1859 and has splendid views overlooking the Bennington Battle Monument and Mt. Anthony, and rooms decorated in historic style.

The Eddington House, a charming boutique bed and breakfast, is nestled in the heart of North Bennington Village. Built in 1857, the Eddington House Inn bed and breakfast has been elegantly restored. The Inn has beautifully structured gardens even covered in snow, and a warm and informal style.

The Four Chimneys Inn and Restaurant is an inviting New England Inn situated on eleven beautifully manicured acres in the historic neighborhood of Old Bennington. The inn has an intimate yet grand ambience that is reminiscent of an elegant age in Bennington’s history, and it provides a magical respite from modern-day frenzy.

Located a block from Main Street in Bennington, the South Shire Inn on Elm Street has the romantic ambience of days gone by, with exquisite 1887 decor and charm. The estate, formerly the private residence of Louis A. Graves, was the creation of architect William C. Bull who designed many of the stately Victorian structures in the Shires of Vermont.

West Mountain Inn, located on 150 mountainside acres overlooking the Battenkill Valley, the century-old inn offers antique-filled guest rooms, fantastic views, extensive gardens and fabulous dining. The inn is located in Arlington at 144 West River Road.
