North Hoosick homeowner shoots during home invasion


NORTH HOOSICK, N.Y. >> Published reports say an unidentified man was shot early Saturday while allegedly trying to break into a home in North Hoosick.

Authorities say the owner of a home on Route 22, near the North Hoosick Fire Department, was awakened when he heard someone aggressively trying to enter the home's front door.

Despite warnings, the man allegedly kept trying to break in and the homeowner shot him through the front door with a shotgun.

The man was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital for surgery.

Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident. No charges have been filed and no additional information is immediately available.
