North Carolina man dies in motorcycle crash in Woodford


WOODFORD >> A North Carolina man died on Friday morning after his motorcycle drove off the eastbound lane of Route 9 and crashed into a culvert, according to a police report.

Vermont State Police responded to the scene about 10:20 a.m. and took statements from witnesses.

Peter Nosek, 44, of Charlotte N.C., was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson Flight Classic, traveling west on Route 9, with two other motorcycles at the time of the crash. The two other motorcycles had passed several vehicles also traveling westbound. After Nosek also started to pass the vehicles, a dump truck came around the corner and Nosek went off the eastbound lane, according to police.

He traveled about 400 feet along the roadway before striking a culvert, where he was thrown from the motorcycle, striking a large rock off the eastbound lane. Nosek was pronounced dead at 10:49 p.m. by the Bennington Rescue Squad, according to police.

Conditions at the time of the accident were partly cloudy, dry and clear, police said. Nosek's motorcycle was totaled, according to police.
