Mountaineers shutdown Mitchell in NECC action
BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont college women's soccer team earned their third straight shutout victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating New England Collegiate Conference rival Mitchell 2-0.
Sophomore Molly Madore was the source of offense on the day for SVC as the sophomore scored both Mountaineer goals, with each score occurring in the first half.
With her second goal of the contest, Madore made history, becoming the Mountaineers' all-time scoring and all-time points leader.
Freshman Danielle Biggers recorded an assist on Madore's record-breaking goal.
In net, SVC goalkeeper Melissa Mascari had an easy day at the office, only had to make on save on goal thanks to the play of her teammates on defense.
The Mountaineers defense limited Mitchell's offense to only one shot on goal for the entire game.
With the win, SVC improves to 7-4-2 on the season and 4-1 in league play
Overall, the Mountaineers are 4-0-1 in their last five games played and are currently on a three-game winning streak.
SVC will try extend their winning streak to four when they travel to play Elms on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Hartford overpowers Patriots
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION >> It was another 3-0 loss for the Mount Anthony boys soccer team against Hartford on Wednesday afternoon.
Kyle Prior scored all three goals for Hartford in the game, with one being scored in the first half and the last two coming in the second half.
Jordan Allard saved all three Patriot shots on goal in the contest for Hartford.
With the loss, the Patriots drop to 4-7 on the season and are now on a five-game losing streak.
MAU will look to stop their recent slide when they travel to play Monument Mountain in non-conference play on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Panthers fall to Raiders
MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. >> The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team came up on goal short in their game against Mechanicville on Wednesday afternoon, losing to the Raiders 2-1.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 2-11-2 on the season.
The Panthers will host Spa Catholic in their regular season finale on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
