Bing at Masonic Temple
BENNINGTON -- Bingo is held at the Masonic Temple, 504 Main St., every Saturday at 6:30 p.m., except major holidays. Doors open at 5 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be available. Christmas pageant called ‘Double Take'
BENNINGTON -- At 10 a. m. there will be a Christmas brunch in the Bennington SDA Church. Following the brunch at 11 a. m. the Forrest Ward Memorial Elementary School will host its Christmas pageant. Church is located at 404 Houghton Lane.

American Legion Post 13 bingo
BENNINGTON -- American Legion Post 13, 225 Northside Drive, will hold bingo. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 3 p.m. every Sunday. No one under 14 will be admitted.
MONTPELIER (AP) -- In a story that ran in the Banner Dec. 20 about home buyouts, The Associated Press, relying on information from the Tropical Storm Irene Recovery office, erroneously reported the number of flood-damaged properties the Federal Emergency Management Agency refused to buy. The number was 13, not 33.
Bennington Town Offices closed
BENNINGTON -- Bennington Town Offices will be closing at noon Monday, Dec. 24, and be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25, in observance of the holiday. It will reopen Wednesday, Dec. 26, at 8 a.m.
Bennington Free Library announces holiday schedule
BENNINGTON -- The library will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, and remain closed through Dec. 25 for the holiday. The library will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and remain closed through Jan. 1 for the holiday.
Pownal holiday closings
POWNAL -- The Pownal Town Clerk's Office will be closed from Monday, Dec. 24, to Friday, Dec. 28. The Pownal Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
All quarterly water and sewer bills due
BENNINGTON -- This is a reminder that all quarterly water and sewer bills (both flat and metered) are due Friday, Jan. 4. Payments maybe made by personal check, bank check, money order or cash at the town offices. The town office is located at 205 South St. It is open Monday through Friday and accepts payments between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For a stamped receipt, you must bring both portions of the bill with you.
If you wish to pay by credit card, you must call the phone number at the top of your bill (official payments). They do not accept the credit cards at the town office.
