BENNINGTON -- The deadline to register to vote is Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Town Clerk's Office.
Grafton Book Club meets
GRAFTON -- The Grafton Community Book Club meets the last Wednesday of every month at 12:30 p.m. This week, it will discuss M. L. Stedman's novel about an Australian lighthouse keeper and his wife and the devastating choices they must make when fate brings them the child they have so long wished for in an unexpected way.
New AARP driver safety course
BENNINGTON -- Starting at 8:30 a.m., the new AARP Smart Driver Course will be taught at the Bennington Senior Center on Pleasant Street. The overall look and feel of this new four-hour AARP Smart Driver Course is entirely different from the past courses. It has been designed to include older adult learning strategies and is now more participant-friendly and easier to follow. As a result of completing the course, participant's will learn research-based strategies which can reduce the likelihood of their having a crash.

Gentle Yoga classes
ARLINGTON -- Gentle Yoga classes will start at 9 a.m. at the Martha Canfield Library, 528 East Arlington Road. The fee for a six-week session is $65. A Tuesday evening class in Arlington also continues.
'Preparing for Matchmaker' workshops
MANCHESTER -- The Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (VT PTAC) invites Vermont business owners to a free workshop, "Preparing for the Matchmaker." This two-hour workshop is intended to prepare business owners for the upcoming Vermont Matchmaker Event on March 6.
This free workshop will be offered at the Manchester Town Hall from 10 a.m. to noon. Businesses can register for these free workshops and see a complete listing of training events at http://vtptac.ecenterdirect.com.

Gentle yoga for cancer survivors
BENNINGTON -- Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors meets weekly, on Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m., in Conference Room C, at SVMC. This group is sponsored by the Cancer Center and is free to all participants. Free FAFSA workshops at SVC
BENNINGTON -- Do you need help paying for college? Are you confused about how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form? SVC invites students and families, who are applying for financial aid for Fall 2014, to attend a free FAFSA workshop.
Computers will be available to complete the FAFSA online. Staff from SVC and Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) will be available to help with questions from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available.
The event will take place at SVC in the Interdisciplinary Computer Lab on campus (located in the building behind the Dining Hall). Travel up the SVC driveway, turn left into the first parking lot and look for signs.
Bring your questions and financial information (tax return, W-2s, etc. ).
The free, drop-in workshops will give students and families an opportunity to complete and file their online FAFSA applications by the March 1 deadline. Annual report available
BENNINGTON -- Catamount Access Television Corporation, which provides, public, educational and governmental access services to the people of Woodford, Bennington, Pownal, North Bennington and Shaftsbury, will cablecast its 2013 Annual Report on Friday, Feb. 28 beginning at 7 p.m. Tune into channel 15 to see how 74 individuals helped to provide approximately 2900 programs covering a wide range of viewports and interests. Watch and glean information and facts about CAT-TV, its classes, membership and much more.

VSAC: Student applications due by March 7
WINOOSKI -- The Vermont Student Assistance Corp. administers more than 160 scholarships for Vermont organizations and individuals looking to help worthy students in their local communities or who share a common academic pursuit. But students need to act fast -- the deadline for applying for the 2014-15 academic year is March 7.
"VSAC is the one-stop source for students and their families when it comes to talking about and financing education and training after high school," said Scott Giles, president and CEO. "The scholarships that VSAC administers are a real benefit to accomplished students with academic goals in mind."
Information on available scholarships and eligibility can be found in VSAC's online brochure, Scholarships for Vermonters, available at vsac.org.
