Bennington Lions January meeting

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Lions will hold its January dinner meeting at 6 p.m. at the Bennington Station Restaurant. Past District Governors Ted Thomas, Adrian Lane and Bob Wilcox will discuss plans for the club's upcoming 75th anniversary dinner. For reservations, call 802-442-4033.

Taconic Community Grange No. 491 meetings

SHAFTSBURY -- All meetings of Taconic Community Grange No. 491 are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Grange Hall on Grange Road, next to the Shaftsbury Head Start building. Meetings begin at 7 p.m.

Bereavement support

BENNINGTON -- Weekly adult grief support for those who have lost a loved one are held every Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Vermont Veterans Home on North Street. For more information, call VNA & Hospice of SVHC at 802-442-5502.

Senior Center activities

BENNINGTON -- Every Tuesday in January the Bennington Senior Center will host Bone Builders from 10 to 11:30 a.m. RSVP. The center will also hold HELP from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Call 802-442-1052.

Bingo Tuesdays at Bennington Moose Lodge

BENNINGTON -- Bingo is held Tuesdays at the Bennington Moose Lodge. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Storytime at the library

BENNINGTON -- "Story Rhythms for Babies & Toddlers" will be held from 10:30 to11:00 a.m. for children 4 months to 36 months, upstairs in the Rotary meeting room at Bennington Free Library. This special time for babies and toddlers will include stories, finger plays, songs and movement that involve active participation. Come early and play. Vt. think tanks host debates

MANCHESTER -- The Ethan Allen Institute and the Public Assets Institute are facing off this winter in 3 debates around the state on the proper role of government in education. The second debate in the series, moderated by Andrew McKeever, editor of the Manchester Journal, will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Park House Activity Room in Dana Thompson Park, 340 Recreation Road.

These debates, made possible by a grant from the Arthur N. Rupe Foundation, are free and open to the public.
