Lions to honor veterans at dinner meeting

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Lions will hold its annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner at the Bennington Station Restaurant starting at 6:30 p.m. Lion members are asked to invite a friend to dinner who is a veteran. The guest speaker for the evening will be Ret. Col. Joseph Krawczyk.

BENNINGTON -- Bennington Senior Center activities will include bone builders from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The Help Weight Group weigh in will be held from 4:30 to 4:55 p.m. Meeting starts at 5 p.m. sharp.

Reversing diabetes seminar

BUSKIRK, N.Y. -- From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Better Living Center at the Buskirk Seventh-day Adventist Community Church, 2176 West Hoosick Road (corner of Routes 103 and 67), will host a free reversing diabetes seminar. Overeaters Anonymous meets

BENNINGTON -- Overeaters Anonymous meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Bennington Free Library.

Free Weight Loss Workshop

MANCHESTER -- A free weight loss workshop sponsored by Take Shape For Life Inc. will help support the Manchester Rescue Squad.

Take Shape for Life Inc., a physician-led organization of health coaches and health care professionals, will focus on helping people create optimal health in their lives by hosting a free weight loss seminar at the Manchester Rescue Squad training room. The seminar will feature Dr. Rick Martino, a certified health coach and presidential director with Take Shape For Life.

Public budget forums

MONTPELIER -- Vt. Commissioner of Finance and Management Jim Reardon has announced two public budget forums to receive public comments on the fiscal 2014 state budget development.

They will be held on Nov. 13 and Nov. 19. The meetings will be held, at various sites around Vermont, through Vermont Interactive Television (VIT). People can participate at VIT Sites here in Bennington on both Nov. 13 and 19.

The VIT location is 124 Pleasant St. (downstairs in the Senior Center building). Times are: Nov. 13, 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. and Nov. 19 4:45 to 6:45 p.m.

Property taxes due today

BENNINGTON -- Property taxes are due Tuesday, Nov. 13. Payments may be made at the Town Offices, 205 South St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Acceptable payment methods are personal check, bank check, money order or cash. For a receipt, bring both portions of the bill.
