POWNAL -- American Legion Post 90 in Pownal holds bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. promptly. There will be two progressive games. A snack bar will be available.
'Gasland Part II' shown
GREENWICH, N.Y. -- "Gasland Part II" will be screened at the Greenwich Library at 148 Main St. at 6:30 p.m. (Jan. 30 snow date).
This new feature-length documentary, an explosive sequel to Josh Fox's 2010 Academy Award-nominated "Gasland," destroys the myth that natural gas is an environmentally and socially beneficial alternative to oil and coal. This event is free and open to all. Doors open at 6 p.m. for an informal reception with healthy refreshments.
A community discussion with climate change activist Bart Schoenfeld, a board certified internist and cardiologist from Chatham, N.Y., follows the film.

Senior Center activities

Financial aid workshop
BENNINGTON -- Southern Vermont College will host a free Financial Aid Workshop on Thursday, Jan. 23, beginning with registration at 6 p.m. in the Everett Mansion on campus. The workshop is free and open to the public. This program will be beneficial to high school students and their families.
From 6:15 to 7 p.m., students will have an opportunity to learn about the basic financial aid process, have questions answered, find out about tips and tools to pay for college and have one on one conversations with financial aid experts.

Bennington Free Clinic
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. It is located in the First Baptist Church at 601 Main St. Call 802-447-3700 for an appointment to be seen.
Free Community Supper at the Dorset Church
DORSET -- A free Community Supper will be held at the Dorset Church, 143 Church St. (off Route 30) on Thursday, Jan. 23. Dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
