Senior Center activities
BENNINGTON -- Today the Bennington Senior Center will be holding Bone Builders from 10 to 11:30 a.m., quilting from 1 to 3 p.m. and Beginners Belly Dance from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Call 802-442-1052 for more information.
BENNINGTON -- The One World Conservation Center on Route 7 is sponsoring a public lecture on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. The lecture "The Valley we Live in" is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by the Bank of Bennington.
Bennington Free Clinic
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. It is located in the First Baptist Church at 601 Main St. Call 802-447-3700 for an appointment.
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The Northeast New York Safety and Health Council will sponsor the Pre-Licensing Course at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation (Hoosick Falls Health Center) on Danforth Street at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30.
The program requires a pre-registration fee of $40 payable to NENY Safety and a valid NYS driver's permit. Successful completion of this class, which includes passing a test, provides the student with the necessary paperwork (MV- 278) to take NYS Driver's Test and is valid for a year. BENNINGTON -- Bennington Early Childhood Center at 1506 Harwood Hill, Route 7A, is hosting a School Fair on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. Representatives from several local schools will be available to share information about their programs for children in grades kindergarten and up. All are welcome.
Internet safety day
ARLINGTON -- As part of its annual Internet Safety Day, the Battenkill Valley Supervisory Union will host Technicool, a tech safety program, in the Mack Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Jan. 30. The event will consist of programs for students in grades 3 through 12 and parents who want to learn more about keeping their children safe when they are online. The parent session, which is open to all community members, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. and is free.

SVC College Steps open house
BENNINGTON -- Southern Vermont College will host a College Steps program open house on Thursday, Jan. 30, in Everett Mansion's Burgdorff Gallery from noon to 2 p.m. The college is pleased to renew this program for Academic Years 2014 and 2015.
The program provides students with cognitive impairments (e.g., autism spectrum disorders) with an opportunity to participate in a modified two-year college experience.
