POWNAL -- If you are a Pownal or North Pownal resident with a child who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2014, Pownal Elementary School will be holding an informational Parent Night on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m. in the school library. Please call the school and give your name and your child's name. Attend this meeting to learn about our Kindergarten program and to schedule an appointment for registration for your child. Kindergarten registration sessions will be held at Pownal School on April 10 and 11.
SVC career and internship fair
BENNINGTON -- Southern Vermont College will host its annual Spring Career and Internship Fair on Thursday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Everett Mansion's Burgdorff Gallery. The fair will be an ideal opportunity for those seeking employment, career information, internship possibilities and more. The event is open to the general public, students from other area colleges and current students and alumni from Southern Vermont College.
Representatives from the following local and regional industries, law enforcement offices, state agencies, health sites, and nonprofit organizations will be available: AFLAC; Bayada Home Health Care; Bennington Sports Center (Vermont Voltage); Dion Money Management; Hillcrest Educational Centers Inc.; Peace Corps; Sage Colleges; St. Peter's Health Partners; Union Graduate College; United Counseling Service; Vermont State Police; and Bennington School.

Greenwich Library book sale
GREENWICH, N.Y. -- The Friends of the Greenwich Library's First Thursday Boomerang Book store in the Basement will be open for browsing and buying on April 3, from 4 until 7:30 p.m. Come and pour over the thousands of new and like-new books on the shelves. New material arrives every day. Put some Spring in your step with a new book or 20.
This month's special features rock bottom pricing on our well-stocked multi-media shelf of CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and audio books.
All proceeds from First Thursday Boomerang Sales go toward library programs and materials.
Bennington Free Clinic
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. It is located in the First Baptist Church at 601 Main St. Call 802-447-3700 for an appointment.
BENNINGTON -- The Mount Anthony Union High School music department will present the annual Pop Concert on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 3, 4, and 5 at 7 p.m. in the MAU Auditorium. This highly anticipated concert features the MAU Jazz Band, Pop Choir, Chamber Singer, Da Capos and many solo and small group acts performing a wide variety of current and classic Pop Music. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance in the high school main office, or at the door.
Monument field trip fundraiser
BENNINGTON -- Help support our Monument 5th graders in collecting donations towards their end of the year's field trip to Natures' Classroom in Lake George, N.Y. This is a weeklong educational hands-on experience for the children that will take place the week of May 19 with an expense of $375 per student.
A spaghetti dinner is planned at the Moose Lodge on April 3 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. We will be having a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle that evening as well. We have received many donations from our wonderful community of businesses. Tickets for the Spaghetti Dinner are $10 each, and can be purchased at the door. Tickets for the auction are $1 each, $5/6 tickets and $10/15 tickets.
Take out is available. In advance we would like to thank you for your donations and time towards this wonderful experience for our Monument 5th graders in collecting donations towards their end graders as they embark on life changes and educational experiences graders.
New York prelicensing course
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The N.Y. State 5-hour prelicensing course, needed to obtain a New York driver's license, will be offered this Thursday, April 3, at the Hoosick Falls Central School. Registration is that evening, beginning at 4:30 p.m., in the High School office. A valid learner's permit and $35 correct cash or check is needed.
BENNINGTON -- The Greater Bennington Peace & Justice Center will hold its monthly gathering on Thurs. Apr. 3 at the UU Meeting House on School St. at 6:15 p.m. with a potluck supper followed by their business agenda at 7 p.m. We invite you to join us.
On Saturday, April 5, the Greater Bennington Peace & Justice Center will conduct its monthly peace vigil at the Four Corners at 11:30 a.m. Join us.
POWNAL -- The American Legion Post 90 in Pownal holds bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. promptly.

Dual Enrollment information session
BENNINGTON -- CCV will host an information session for parents and high school students who would like to learn more about free dual enrollment options through the Community College of Vermont. Dual enrollment courses carry high school and college credit. Students must be Vermont residents to participate.
Dual enrollment options are available for students who are home schooled and those attending public and private high schools. The information session will be held on Thursday, April 3 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the CCV Academic Center. This session is part of the Bennington Area Career Week activities.
