Open mic night at UU Fellowship
BENNINGTON -- An open mic night featuring local musicians will be held from 6 to 9 p. m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 108 School St. Coffee, baked goods and other refreshments will be available for purchase.
Summer Sonatina piano camp concerts
BENNINGTON -- Summer Sonatina International Piano Camp will hold free public piano concerts at the Bennington Center for the Arts (Route 9, 44 Gypsy Lane) at 6 p.m. Solo piano pieces and chorus are performed by students, 7 to 16, from all over the world. Pownal Legion bingo
POWNAL -- American Legion Post 90 in Pownal holds bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. promptly. A snack bar will be available. There will be a cookie jar and progressive games. Everyone is invited to attend.
Bennington Free Clinic hours
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. It is located in the First Baptist Church at 601 Main St. Call 802-447-3700 for an appointment to be seen.
Food shelf open today
NORTH BENNINGTON -- The Food Shelf at the North Bennington Baptist Church is open every Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Mark Skinner Library event
MANCHESTER -- Come to Mark Skinner Library at 10:30 a.m. and meet Ted Schiffman and see his pictures of wild animals photographed throughout his many trips to East Africa. Schiffman's photographs have been published by National Geographic, the American Museum of Natural History and the Sierra Club, among many others. He will read from his children's book, "Elephants of Africa," and share stories of his adventures in Africa. A craft to follow.
This is a free program, open to the public. Children must be accompanied and supervised by adult caregivers.
Senior Center activities
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Senior Center will hold RSVP bone builders from 8:30 to 9:45 and 10-11:15 a.m.; quilting from 1 to 3 p.m., and beginning belly dance from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Also this week, a trip to Colonie Center from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Bennington Free Library activities
BENNINGTON -- "Fizz, boom, Create! Thursdays" will be held today at the Bennington Free Library. This is a hands-on workshop for thos 6 to 12 at 2 p.m. in the Rotary Room. Preregistration is required.
'Mary Poppins' movie screening
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Join HAYC3 for a free showing of the original version of "Mary Poppins" on Thursday, July 24 at 8:30 p.m. at Wood Park.
