Senior Center closed

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Senior Center will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving. Berkshire Vegan Network Thanksgiving event

LENOX, Mass. -- In association with the Berkshire Vegan Network, a vegan Thanksgiving celebration will be held at the United Methodist Church of Lenox, 6 Holmes Road. Dinner will begin at 1 p.m. Each person is asked to bring a vegan dish that will serve 10. Bring a place setting and copies of the recipe. Coffee/tea and hot/cold water will be provided.

After the dinner there will be a voluntary share time for people to read a poem, tell a short story, or tell why they are thankful. Guest speakers are Miram Jones and Aram Polster of the V.I.N.E. (Veganism is the Next Evolution) Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Springfield, Vt., will talk about their work in farm animal rescue, and public education and outreach.

Cost is $7 for adults; $3 for children 3 to 12. Reservations are required to Melissa Campbell, or 413-684-0176.


Town Offices closed for holiday

BENNINGTON -- Bennington Town Offices will be closed today and Friday, Nov. 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday and will reopen Monday, Nov. 26 at 8 a.m.

Meet with Bennington County Forester

SHAFTSBURY -- An open meeting with guest speaker Bennington County Forester Kyle Mason, of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation, will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. Friendship Pomona #31 is hosting this meeting at the Taconic Grange Hall on Grange Road, on Route 67t. Mason will be addressing questions on Use Value Appraisal, Emerald Ash Borer, how a consulting forester can help land owners, and woodland wildlife. Whether you own a large tract of land or are wondering about the purple boxes hanging from the trees along the roads, the public is welcome to come and meet our new county forester.
