Bingo at Pownal Legion
POWNAL --Pownal American Legion Post No. 90 offers bingo every Thursday evening. Doors and concession open at 5 p.m. There will be 30 games, including three progressive jackpots, door prizes, raffles, and family fun. Senior Center activities
BENNINGTON -- Bennington Senior Center activities will include bone builders from 10 to 11:30 a.m.; quilting from 1 to 3 p.m.; and beginning belly dance from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
5 hour prelicensing class
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The Northeast New York Safety and Health Council will sponsor the Prelicensing Course at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (Hoosick Falls Health Center), on Danforth Street, beginning at 3:30 p.m. promptly.
This program requires a pre-registration fee of $40 payable to NENY Safety and a valid NYS driver’s permit. Successful completion of this class, which includes passing a test, provides the student with the necessary paperwork (MV-278) to take New York Driver’s Test and is valid for one year.

Bennington Free Clinic
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would other wise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. It is located in the First Baptist church at 601 Main St. Call 447-3700 for an appointment to be seen.
Pownal Select Board special meeting
POWNAL -- The Pownal Select Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. at the Town Office. The agena will include: Agenda approval; payroll issues involving town personnel (executive session with legal counsel if necessary).
BENNINGTON -- Both members of the Bennington Rural fire department facing charges this month in Bennington Superior Court have pled not guilty to all charges. A paragraph in the middle of a Dec. 22 story incorrectly stated that one of these men had pled guilty.
Library New Year’s schedule
BENNINGTON -- Bennington Free Library will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, and remain closed through Tuesday, Jan. 1, for the holiday.
