Dinner-dance fundraiser for Natalie Rupprecht

BENNINGTON -- A dinner-dance fundraiser will be held from 5 to 9 the American Legion, 225 Northside Drive, for Natalie Rupprecht.

She is 3 years old and is being treated at Albany Medical Center for acute lymphoblastic luekemia, known as A.L.L.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and menu is Swiss chicken, baked potato, green beans, roll, coffee and dessert. There will be a cash bar, with dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. to DJ Denny Kendall, plus a Chinese auction and raffles. Come and support this little girl. Bingo at Masonic Lodge

BENNINGTON -- Bingo will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 504 Main St., at 6:30 p.m. Doors open 5 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be available.

Marine anniversary luncheon

MANCHESTER -- The U.S. Marines of Bennington Country will be celebrating the 237th Anniversary of the Marine Corps at a luncheon at Garlic John’s restaurant, Route 11/30, just east of the U.S. Route 7 Manchester exit.

The luncheon will begin at noon and all who have served or are presently serving in the Marine Corps are invited. Each year, on this date, throughout the world, wherever Marines are serving or reside, a celebration of the founding of the Corps takes place.

Veterans Day celebration in Stephentown

STEPHENTOWN, N.Y. -- The Veterans of the Stephentown area invite the public to join them in their celebration of Veterans Day. The program will start at 11 a.m. in the Veterans Memorial Park, located between Routes 22 and 43 in Stephentown.

The Stephentown Veterans will honor its WW II Veterans. Following the celebration the veterans invite the community to join them at 12:30 p.m. in the Stephentown Fire Hall for a spaghetti dinner; the fire hall is located at 35 Grange Hall Road. A good will offering will be accepted.

Brunswick Grange dinner

BRUNSWICK, N.Y. -- Brunswick Grange will be holding a ziti and meatball dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Brunswick Grange Hall, Route 7 and 142 in Center Brunswick.

Menu includes baked ziti, meatballs, tossed salad, dessert and beverage. Adults $8, veterans $7 and children under 12 $5.

Storyteller at Canfield Library

ARLINGTON -- At 2 p.m. the Martha Canfield Library hosts Tom Weakly, who will discuss his new book, "The Stories."

Weakly is a Vermont humorist and storyteller who regularly entertains audiences throughout the U.S. and abroad with memories of his Depression-era childhood, tall tales, and well-researched historical stories. With his laid back style and mischievous honesty, listeners often feel they are listening to a late night confession over pie.

Ham radio exam

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The federal examination for all classes of amateur radio operators license will be administered at the Salvation Army Headquarters on West Street. Registration starts at 8:45 a.m. with exams at 9 a.m. Applicants are required to bring photo identification and copies of present license and or credits. The fee for the test is $15.

Veterans Day service in Pownal

"Bull Run" event at Pownal library

POWNAL -- The Solomon Wright Library invites town and area residents to join in the 2012 statewide reading of Paul Fleischmnan’s short fictional Civil War related novel "Bull Run". Today at 1:30 p.m. the format for the discussion will feature eight volunteer readers who have prepared for their Southern or Northern personas. The discussion will be led by Dawn Rodrigues with some media enhancements. All are welcome. For information call 823-5400.

BENNINGTON -- Between 7:30 am to 9:30 am, Emeritus at Fillmore Pond invites all area veterans to join them for a free Veterans Day breakfast buffet. Property taxes due Nov. 13

BENNINGTON -- Property taxes are due Tuesday, Nov. 13. Payments may be made at the Town Offices, 205 South St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Acceptable payment methods are personal check, bank check, money order or cash. For a receipt, bring both portions of the bill.
