Minus Zero: Electronic Dance Music festival finishes Stratton's season
SOUTH LONDONDERRY — A lack of natural snow did not affect attendance at the Minus Zero Music Festival on Saturday and Sunday at Stratton Mountain.
With a large turnout both nights for headliners deadmau5 and Kaskade from the electronic dance music (EDM) genre, snowboarders and skiers shredded down the mountain behind a disc jockey crafting only the best hits.
Julia Devine and Ken Johnson from Quincy, Mass., are new to the snow sport and EDM scene, and said they enjoyed the event because it was different.
"This is my second music festival and Kaskade is the only name I know for tonight," Devine said. "I didn't know what to expect. I've been to a festival in warmer weather and I was worried about getting a sunburn, but here it's so cold."
From noon to 10 p.m. folks ended the skiing and snowboarding season on a musical note listening to Gorgon City, deadmau5, and Atlas on Saturday and Thomas Jack, Kaskade and Jauz.
"It's definitely a different experience," Johnson said.
Those who purchased a VIP pass had the opportunity to view the shows from a balcony on top of Stratton's Grizzly's restaurant at the base lodge.
Pierce Fulton, who performed on Saturday, is actually from Stratton and is a Burr and Burton alum.
