BENNINGTON -- Yesterday at approximately 11:10 a.m., a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Depot Street and County Street left Dorothy Grout, 77, of East Arlington, and Maria Mason, 24, hospitalized with minor injuries.

When Bennington Police responded to the scene, they found that Grout's vehicle, a 2008 Honda Civic, had struck the southeast corner of the Tractor Supply Store building on Depot Street.

According to police, Mason was driving west on County Street and came to a stop at one of the intersection's stop signs. Grout failed to come to a stop and hit the front, passenger's side of Mason's 2013 Hyundai Tucson.

As a result of the collision, Grout's vehicle ricocheted in a northwest direction and onto the back lawn of the Tractor Supply Store's lawn, making impact with the building.

Mason's vehicle spun around, coming to a stop, facing north on Depot Street.

Both women were transported to SVMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Tractor Supply Store building received minor exterior damage.
