SOUTHINGTON, CONN. — The Mount Anthony wrestling team came off a fourth-place finish at the Lowell Holiday tournament to win the Southington Duals on Saturday.

The Patriots were 4-0, with victories over Hall (70-6), Amity (74-4), the host Knights (57-23) and Winchester, Mass. (57-16).

Undefeated for Mount Anthony were Tyson Sauer (106 pounds), Ashdin Schaefer (113), Tyler Raetz (138), Chris Meyer (145), Austin Prendergast (170), Dakota King (195) and Sebastian Rocher (220).

Calvin Call (120), Keenan Taylor (126), Austin Condo (152) and Tyler Burgess (160) were all 3-1, while AJ Wright (2-2), Calvin Hayford (2-2) and Gage McLaughlin (1-3) rounded out the roster.

"We started off the day a bit sloppy, but it picked up as the day went on," said coach Scott Legacy. "We wrestled our best in the finals. Our entire coaching staff has been happy with the team's progress this year. The season isn't a sprint, it's a marathon."

Legacy cited the performance of Mayer and Prendergast after their undefeated days.

"Many of the guys stepped up, they both won matches when they needed to come back," Legacy said. "A lot of our veteran guys had their usual performances, Tyson shines while getting better."

MAU travels to Springfield, Mass., on Wednesday for the annual City vs. Country matchup, then hosts the MAU tournament on Saturday.
