MAU High School seeks hosts for New England Music Festival

BENNINGTON -- The Mount Anthony Union High School Music Department, led by Instrumental Director Marjorie Rooen and Choral Director Lynn Sweet, is pleased to announce that we will once again be hosting the New England Music Festival this spring. On March 20 to 22, 450 high school musicians will take part in this memorable musical experience in our community. This festival attracts the top high school student musicians from all over New England. Many of our own MAU students have participated in the festival over the years, bringing home memories that will last a lifetime. Six students will represent Mt. Anthony in this year's festival. This is a great honor and opportunity for all of us in our community.

One of the most unique features of the New England Music Festival is that students stay with host families in the local community during the festival. We are in need of families who are willing to host these great kids. This will involve two nights of housing, two breakfasts and a dinner as well as transportation to and from MAU. Ideally each student would have a bed, but if that is not possible, sofas, air mattresses and cots would work too. Please consider opening your home to the students, they are the very best of their high school music department. Past hosts have commented that this is a great experience for them as well as for the visiting student.

We are confident that our great community will come through and help us find places for all of these talented musicians. If you would like to get involved, go to for a Host Family Packet, complete and return it to Christina Gabrus, Festival Coordinator, MAUHS as soon as possible. Call 447-7511 with questions.
