Martha Roberts, NP, joins SVMC's Emergency Department
Roberts earned a dual master's degree in nursing and as an acute and primary pediatric nurse practitioner from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. In addition, she holds a master's in nursing with adult acute and critical care nurse practitioner certification from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Roberts earned two bachelor's degrees: the first in environmental sciences, music, and audio technology and production from American University, and a second in nursing from Georgetown University, both in Washington, D.C. Most recently, she has worked in the emergency departments of INOVA Alexandria Hospital in Virginia and Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. She worked for 10 years as a registered nurse at INOVA Fairfax Hospital Level I Trauma Center in Fairfax, Va. She is certified in both primary and acute care by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
SVMC's Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day and treats over 25,000 patients a year, many with life-threatening conditions. It is equipped with the latest telemedicine technology, which allows emergency specialists from Dartmouth-Hitchcock to consult on cases remotely through a high-definition two-way camera and monitor system.
