Marion breaks school record in 200 free
Marion swam the event in 2 minutes, 7.16 seconds, breaking a school record that had stood for more than a decade.
She helped MAU sweep the Warriors, 96-79 on the girls side, and 80-69 for the boys, who remain undefeated.
The MAU girls had some very strong swims Tuesday night. The girls had 10 best times at the meet. The 200 medley relay team of Savannah Robson, Lily Spencer, Emily Calder, and Mary Mendez had a best time of 2:21.44. Best times were had by: Shaana Staab (200 individual medley - 2:41.32), Savannah Robson (100 fly - 1:25.15, 100 breast - 1:28.40), Olivia Salem (100 free - 1:19.15), Grace Burhans (500 free - 6:10.60), and Lacey Anderson (100 back - 1:45.19). The 200 free relay of Lily Spencer, Kat Bruneau, Summer Nichols, and Emily Calder had a best time of 2:09.87.
The MAU boys had 10 best times also Monday night. Best times for the boys were: Noah Loomis (200 free - 2:47.71), Anthony Mazzola (200 individual medley - 2:26.76), Lucas Reutter (50 free - 26.37), Devin Deets (100 fly - 1:06.69), Morgan Flynn (100 fly - 1:13.43, 200 individual medley - 2:41.45), Caden Watson (100 free - 1:01.63), and Owen Denue (500 free - 7:27.16). The 400 free relay of Devin Deets, Aaron Mattison, Anthony Mazzola, and Zach LaForest had a best time of 3:56.95. The 400 free relay team of Ethan Bennett, Tristan Thomas, Owen Denue, and Ben Medvedev also had a best time in that race.
Hoosick bowlers sweep Corinth
CORINTH, N.Y. — The Hoosick Falls bowling team returned to action after the holiday break on Tuesday, winning all four points in their away match against Corinth. They finished with a total of 3,403 pins to Corinth's 2,411.
Panthers senior captain A.J. Hurlburt was the high bowler for the match, with a pair of 267 games. His 749 series is the highest in the Adirondack League Southern Division this year. Joey Miller (223-488) led Corinth.
Other top scores for Hoosick Falls included: Patrick Smith 214-595, Owynn Arnold 212-584, Evan Webster 202-541, Brody Mullen 194-539, Lilli Williams 203-503, Colin King 199, Ziena Hurlburt 184 and Erin McCart 181. The win improves the Panthers' point record to 51-5 for the season with only two matches remaining before the postseason.
BBA falls to South Burlington
MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton girls hockey team went into the third period tied with one of the top teams in Division II, but allowed a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes in a 5-3 loss on Wednesday night at Riley Rink.
Stella Turner and Kilo Francomb each had a goal and assist for the Bulldogs, while Julia Fillion added a goal and Annette Zilkha had her first varsity point with an assist.
Lola Herzog made 25 saves on 30 shots as BBA drops to 2-6-1 on the season. They play Saturday at Stowe.
