Marauders finish home season
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Marauders swim team finished its home schedule against Brattleboro on Tuesday.
Winners included Ashley Steinhoff and Phebe Hall in the 100 butterfly and Morgan Flynn in the 100 butterfly.

Bennington LL states
BENNINGTON -- After reaching the state championship series, the Bennington 11/12 all-stars dropped a 27-0 decision in four innings to Williston on Tuesday night.
Williston started the game with 12 runs in the first inning to put Bennington on the ropes early.
Bennington could only muster two hits and didn't have a runner reach third base.
Storm Rushford earned the win for Williston. Griffin McDermot had four hits, including two home runs as Williston will move on to the New England regional in Bristol, Conn. next week.
The 9/10's won 11-9 in six innings Monday night. Ben Ranzona started on the mound and pitched his full 75 pitches in 3 innings allowing only two runs.
The bats started out early with Bennington taking a 6-2 lead in the second inning. Billy Rogers, Jacob Tibbetts and Austin Grogan relieved on the mound.
On Tuesday, the all-stars, playing their fourth straight day, fell 9-0, to Essex, to finish second in the state.
Essex will travel to Cranston, R.I., for the 9/10 regional championships.
Nationals in Fargo
FARGO, N.D. -- Five Mount Anthony and Catamount wrestlers traveled to North Dakota for the Cadet and Junior championships in Greco-Roman competition.
Jesse Webb, who graduated in June from MAU and will attend Ohio University, finished one place higher than last year in the competition, taking sixth after a loss to Illinois' Michael Hobbs.
"He's the only MAU wrestler to win three All-American placements," said MAU coach Scott Legacy.
Webb won his first three matches to reach the quarterfinals, but was beaten 8-0 by Adarios Jones, from Illinois. He won two more matches to reach the consolation semi, but lost 4-1 to Iowa's Jacob Marnin.
In the junior tournament, Calvin Call scored a win on the national stage, a 22-12 technical fall over Ohio's Brennon King. He was pinned in 25 seconds in the next match and lost a decision to be knocked out of the tournament.
Dylan LaFountain was 0-2, receiving a bye in the opening round but losing his matches.
In the Cadet tournament, Ashdin Schaefer went 0-2 at 100 pounds, but one of the defeats was 14-12 in the consolation round. Schaefer was ahead 12-11 with seconds left, then threw him for a three-point move as time expired.
Tyler Raetz went 1-2 in the Cadet tournament at 120 pounds, winning his first match against Missouri's Taylor Brown in a pin at 2:43. He was beaten in a tech fall in the next round and then had to default with an injury in the consolations.
Catamount wrestling dance
BENNINGTON -- The Catamount Wrestling club is hosting a fund raiser dance on Thursday July 24th from 7-9 pm for students in grades five through eight. The fee to get in is $5.00.
The dance is at the Bennington Moose Lodge on Main Street and will be chaperoned by adult parents of Catamount Wrestling members. Proceed will benefit Catamount Wrestling. For more information please contact Wayne Call at 802-952-8932.
